The unassuming Honda Passport is well-known as a capable hauler for families and their cargo and delighting them with its impressive off-road capabilities. Now, the 2022 Honda Passport gets a rugged new exterior to better represent its proven ability to tackle tricky terrain and dirt trails. Also new for the 2022 model year is the brand new halo for Honda light trucks, the TrailSport package. The new 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport features unique styling and exclusive wheels. Honda plans to introduce new TrailSport packages on future Honda models.
What’s New for the 2022 Honda Passport
The new Honda Passport receives a refresh to its exterior, making it appear more like the off-road champion that it is. The bold new front end has a unique new grille design, a square front end and new front fenders. The front bumper appears more rugged thanks to a pronounced skid garnish design and broad side vents that add to its aerodynamic performance. At the rear, the bumpers make room for larger twin exhaust outlets and a new, more athletic tow hitch cover and skid garnish. New crossbars on the front and rear change based on trim level, with the top-tier Elite model getting gloss-black versions. You can also now add the Honda Performance Development (HPD) package to the new Honda Passport.
All new models of the 2022 Passport now have a Rear Seat Reminder and rear seatbelt reminder. The Rear Seat Reminder will ding after turning the SUV off so that you never forget any precious cargo behind you.
All-New 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport
The first-ever Honda Passport TrailSport is stealing all the attention. This unique trim features exclusive styling accents, including orange TrailSport badging, stitching and amber ambient lighting throughout the cabin. The new TrailSport logo is inspired by the spirit of outdoor exploration and adventure and can be found on the front grille and tailgate. Inside, the leather-trimmed seats are embroidered with the TrailSport logo, and the cabin features contrast orange stitching throughout.
To enhance the off-road experience, the new Passport TrailSport model gets new machined 18-inch wheels that increase the track width of the new Passport SUV to improve stability. Honda’s i-VTM4™ all-wheel drive is standard, along with the Intelligent Traction Management system. Other trail-oriented features include power-folding side mirrors for tight squeezes and a heated windshield wiper to prevent it from getting frozen stuck in frigid conditions.
In the coming years, look for new Honda TrailSport models to include more off-road upgrades, including off-road-tuned suspension and higher ground clearance. AWD Honda Passports currently add 0.6 inches to its ground clearance, rising to 8.1 inches from the standard 7.5 inches for FWD models.
Options for the 2022 Honda Passport
The new Honda Passport also comes in four more trims: Sport, EX-L, Touring and Elite. Every new Passport runs on the powerful 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and can tow up to 5,000 pounds on AWD models. The capable two-row SUV boasts impressive acceleration and a nimble drive on-road, plus superior handling and control when off-road. The Intelligent Traction Management system allows you to select from Normal, Snow, Mud and Sand drive modes to traverse any terrain like an expert.
The spacious Honda Passport is cavernous with ample room for five adults and over 50 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row. Fold the 60/40 split rear seatback down to double the cargo room. Use the available underfloor storage with compartments built in to maximize and organize all your gear. Every model of the new Passport includes an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen.
